Sound & Stillness Ritual
Michelle Dhanoa | MAR 8
A quieting, sensory‑softening ritual to help your nervous system settle and invite spaciousness into your evening.
A gentle sound‑based ritual designed to shift your body out of activation and into calm. Soft, repetitive tones help regulate the nervous system, slow the breath, and create a sense of internal spaciousness—especially supportive during overwhelm, transitions, or the end of the day.
A soft chime, singing bowl, or gentle bell sound
3–5 minutes of quiet
Slow, natural breathing
Optional: dim lighting or candlelight
Sit comfortably and let your shoulders soften.
Strike your chime or bowl once, allowing the sound to fade completely before taking a slow breath.
Repeat 3–5 times, letting each tone guide your exhale into softness.
Sit in stillness for a final minute, noticing how your body responds to the quiet.
Use a sound app or recording if you don’t have a physical chime.
Place one hand on your heart or belly for grounding.
Pair with a restorative shape like Supported Child’s Pose.
If sound feels activating, lower the volume or switch to a single soft tone. Choose the gentlest version that supports your system.
Before meditation or journaling
During emotional overwhelm
As an evening wind‑down
After overstimulation or sensory fatigue
