Vata‑Soothing Evening Ritual
Michelle Dhanoa | MAR 8
A grounding, warming ritual to calm restlessness, soften anxiety, and prepare your body for evening steadiness.
A gentle Ayurvedic evening practice designed to soothe Vata energy—characterized by coldness, dryness, restlessness, and scattered thoughts. This ritual helps you settle into your body, regulate your nervous system, and transition toward rest with warmth and steadiness.
Warm oil (sesame or almond)
Soft lighting
Slow, steady breathing
Optional: cozy blanket or warm socks
Dim the lights and create a soft, warm environment.
Warm a small amount of oil between your palms.
Gently massage your feet, calves, or belly in slow, circular motions.
Sit comfortably and take 5–8 slow breaths, letting your exhale lengthen naturally.
Wrap yourself in a blanket or add warm socks to seal in the grounding sensation.
Add a warm cup of herbal tea (ginger, cinnamon, or chamomile).
Place a warm compress on your belly or low back.
Pair with a short restorative pose like Supported Child’s Pose.
Avoid oil massage if you have open cuts, skin irritation, or are sensitive to scents. Choose fragrance‑free oils if needed.
During windy, cold, or dry seasons
When feeling anxious, scattered, or overstimulated
Before bed
After travel or a long, busy day
